We are studying About the return of the king. I don't know how much you know I don't know how much you don't know And so as your pastor, I'm just going to feed you An overload of information over the next several months It will be like drinking water from a fire hose I promise you that but take notes sit back Listen that you might be able to get it all in and you will I promise we'll give you different Snippets at times of Charts and Different things that will help you understand the return of the king We've already begun with an introduction About the return of the king
We talked to you about the fact that it was a sure event I'm surprising event a sudden event a sanctifying event a sobering event we talked to you about the fact that it was a Sovereign event a selective event
We wanted you to understand by Introduction the return of the king then we gave you an examination if you're with us a couple of weeks ago We gave you a test to see how much you knew about Prophecy and the return of the king and the events surrounding the return of the king some of you did really really good others of you We won't mention you by name But at least you had the opportunity to assess where you were in your understanding of the coming king of kings and lord of lords For this time forward for the next several months
We're gonna give you the instruction about the return of the king And it will be a lot of information But it's so important to understand it and I think so many times we we forget how the Bible places an emphasis on the coming of the king So let me give you just a few statistics to help you understand what the Bible says About the second coming of Jesus Christ our Lord in the Bible prophecy occupies 1 5th of Scripture and the second coming occupies 1 3rd of that 1 5th of 333 prophecies and we've said this to you before There were a hundred and nine of them fulfilled in the first coming of Jesus leaving 224 of them to be fulfilled in his second coming of the 46 Old Testament prophets Less than ten of them speak of events in Christ's first coming While 36 of those prophets speak of events connected with his second coming There are one thousand five hundred and twenty seven Old Testament passages Referring specifically to the second coming of the Messiah There are seven thousand nine hundred and fifty nine verses in the New Testament 330 of them refer directly To the second coming of Christ in other words out of every 25 verses in the New Testament One of them specifically refers to the second coming of the Messiah Next to the subject of faith The subject of the second coming is the most dominant subject in the New Testament Very few people know that Faith is believing in what God has said Specifically God wants you to believe What he has said About his coming his first and second coming If the subject of the second coming dominates the scriptures more so than any other topic except for the topic of faith It requires that we understand what Jesus has to say about his return For every time the first coming is mentioned in the Bible the second coming is mentioned eight times For every time the atonement is mentioned once the second coming is mentioned twice The Lord refers to his return 21 times and Men are exhorted to be ready for the return of Jesus over 50 times In the New Testament Those statistics help us understand why it's so important to study the return of the King and Yet most churches never talk about prophecy never talk about a second coming Never talk about the end of the world in fact the Bible says in 2nd Peter chapter 3 that scoffers are going to come and They're gonna mock the coming of Jesus
Where is the promise of? His coming They're gonna mock it to the extent that we don't even talk about it anymore
And yet people are Consumed With how it's all gonna end There have been many books written about the end of the world There's a movie in the theaters that just came out recently called 2012 based on the Mayan calendar and the end of Civilization is that how it's all going to end Back in the 20th century when we about to embark on the 21st century The year 2000 was was a big event in the lives of people Many people lived in fear not knowing what would happen in the year 2000 would that be the end of the world as we know it? People are worried about global warming
They're worried about nuclear war They're worried about how it's all going to come to an end Well, the good news is we know how it's going to come to the end Now ABC and CNN and CBN don't come and ask us how it's going to end, but we know How what's going to end? We know what's going to end with the return of Jesus Christ to this earth In other words the return of Christ is The beginning of the end as well as the end of the beginning We understand that because we can read and study the book of Revelation
We know what the Old Testament prophets have said we know that Jesus will physically and Literally return to this earth The Bible says in Acts chapter 1 Verse number 10 and verse number 11 you men of Galilee Why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven shall So come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven These two men in white apparel Some say they're angels it doesn't say they're angels. I Think they're Moses and Elijah in white apparel Others think they're angels Doesn't make a difference really who they are It's what they said
That's important Why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus is going to return the same way he left Physically and literally he will return again as he ascended he will then Descend just as you saw him leave this earth We understand that we believe that And so let me give you an illustration what I have for you. I'm not gonna give to you now But I have a chart for you If I give it to you now, you're gonna read the verses and examine the chart while I'm preaching And I don't want you to do that How do I know you're gonna do that? Because that's what I did when I was in seminary and when I was in college I used to look at the pictures when the preacher was where the professor was was speaking and So I'm not gonna give it to you now So after it's over you can come up and you can get one of these what I'm gonna do though Is I'm gonna preview for you the end So you understand the end? So we have a chart for you had the lights go out don't worry about taking notes okay, all you got to do is observe and we'll give you this chart at the end of our time together this evening and The chart will have all the verses on it
This chart up here in the screen has no verses It just shows you maps out for you the end So you understand it and we'll explain this entire chart over the next several months So that you will understand the end of the world as we know it okay, and We'll refer back to this chart several times throughout our time together So you're gonna stand wherever at Today we are right here in the church age. I kind of like using this thing It's I've only used it one other time here at Christ Community Church. I'm so low-tech This is about as high tech as I can get
But anyway, we are right here in the church age This is where we are right now After the church age is over
There will be the rapture of the church the translation of the church from earth to heaven The word used is Harpozzo It's a catching away some a Latin word rappere which speaks to us about the catching away of The church and the church will be translated to glory that's based on first Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 17 and 18 The dead in Christ will rise first We who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the air And so shall we ever be with the Lord when we get to heaven there will be the judgment seat of Christ We talked about that the beam of seat where we are rewarded Also the marriage supper of the Lamb that will all take place in glory during that seven-year tribulational period While on earth This is going to take place the seven years of tribulation During that time there will be a man who rises to power
He's called the Antichrist a Lot of question about whether the Antichrist is a Jew or whether he's a Gentile We will help you understand that as we go through our time together here in the study of the end And so that Antichrist will be revealed After the rapture of the church, he will not be revealed in the church age He will be revealed after the rapture of the church based on second Thessalonians chapter 2 So if you're wondering about who the Antichrist is Don't worry about that because we're not looking for Antichrist
We're looking for Christ, right? And so he won't be revealed till after we leave he will make a covenant with Israel During this time he will break that covenant in the middle of the tribulation That's recorded in Daniel chapter 9 He will break that covenant because he will demand to be worshipped as God He will have a cohort
That is the false prophet the false prophet symbolizes religion The Antichrist rises to power because he is a political figure and a military leader But he knows he can't rule the world Unless he is a religious leader as well So the false prophet and the Antichrist partner together to rule the world until the beast devours the false prophet and Demands to be worshipped that all happens during the seven year tribulation period right here During that time and we told you there are seven seals that are broken those seven seals span the entire tribulation period When the seventh seal is broken then the seven trumpets begin to blow once the seventh trumpet blows the seven bowls of judgment or the seven vials of judgment recorded in Revelation Revelation 16 are poured out in rapid succession So while the the the the seven seals span the length of this seven-year period When the last seal is broken the seven trumpets blow Rapidly, but don't blow as rapidly as the seven bowls are poured with the seventh trumpet blowing We'll explain all that to you as we go on Revelation 19 comes and what you have is what we call the Battle of Armageddon Which we'll call the Battle of Bozrah
We'll explain that to you Armageddon is where they gather but the battle begins in Bozrah and the blood flows for 200 miles according to Revelation chapter 14 and that 200 miles goes from Edom where Bozrah is to Ezdur on the valley of Megiddo or where they gather together in that valley So that takes place with the return of the king he comes He sets up his kingdom here the kingdom age it goes for a thousand years based on Revelation 20 verses 1 and following six times it says 1,000 years so we believe in a literal 1,000 year reign of Christ upon the earth
We are in the minority When we believe that of evangelicals, we're not in the majority We are in the minority and we'll explain that to you as we go on through this But during this time of the kingdom age the king himself rules
He sits on the throne of David He rules for a thousand years and we'll give you the verses to prove that we'll go through that a little bit this evening At the end of that thousand years at the beginning Satan is bound Okay for a thousand years based on Revelation 20 verses 1 to 3 at when Christ returns The false prophet and the Antichrist are thrown to the lake of fire Satan is bound for a thousand years at the end of that thousand years Satan is released based on Revelation 20 verses 7 to 10 There's one more great battle at the end and it's over with 2nd Peter check the 3 verses 10 to 12 where the whole world Is extinguished both heaven and earth and all you have left is the great white throne Judgment Revelation 20 verses 11 to 15 at that great white throne judgment
All the unsaved dead are Raised Okay, Old Testament saints are raised at the return of Christ right before the kingdom age New Testament saints are raised at the rapture of the church all Unbelievers
This is the second resurrection These are a part of the first resurrection, but these are the second resurrection They are raised and they will be judged the great white throne Judgment and they will be cast into the lake of fire Satan himself will be cast into the lake of fire forever and ever based on Matthew chapter 25 based on Revelation chapter 20 verses 7 to 10 and then we enter into the new heaven and the new earth Revelation 21 and Revelation 22 Okay, so that gives you an overview if we can have the lights on please so I can see if anybody's sleeping But that gives you an overview of the end What we've done is that we have put this together in a chart that we will give to you with all the verses Well, I shouldn't say all the verses but many of the verses to help you explain Exactly what's happening and where it is in the Bible
It's important It's one thing to have a chart It's another thing to know where it is in the Bible so you that you can explain it to other people So we'll give this to you at the end if you want it you come up here We'll make sure you get a copy of it now We know that the end begins With the translation of the church into heaven When we talk about the second coming of Jesus I'll tell you right now the second coming of Jesus specifically is this area right here where Jesus Christ Returns to earth here
He doesn't return to earth We are caught up together in the air to meet the Lord in the air with the resurrection of the New Testament Saints Here he comes down to earth When we talk about the second coming specifically we are talking about this event, but the return of the king encompasses all of this chart and it begins with the rapture of the church the Translation of the church into heaven we gave you that chart two weeks ago Remember that chart that distinguished the rapture of the church from the revelation of Jesus Christ and gave you all those verses Why don't we give that to you because we want you to understand the difference between the rapture of the church Into heaven and the revelation of Jesus Christ as he descends to this earth based on Acts 1 10 and 11 Where he literally and physically returns to this earth To set up his kingdom Okay We're gonna give you three points over the next three weeks Three points to help you understand why the king is going to return The first point we're gonna cover this evening simply because the person of God Demands it We will tell you that the purposes of God Will determine it that's next time and then we'll talk about how the priority of God Actually delivers it, okay Those are the three points
We're going to cover for you to help you understand Why the king is going to return? tonight It's because the person of God Demands it God the Father God the Son God the Holy Spirit the person of God Demands it Based on the tidings of the Father the teaching of the Son and the testimony of the Spirit Follow me so far This is important to understand The Lord said he's going to come again If he said it 21 times That's more than enough He only had to say it once But he said it 21 times Same time over 50 times in the New Testament
We are commanded to be alert and to be ready for that return and If it is the most dominant theme of the scripture Outside the theme of faith
We need to know it inside and out So The Bible speaks a lot about the return of the king if there are 333 prophecies about the coming of the Messiah Only a hundred and nine of them were fulfilled in his first coming That means there are 224 left to be fulfilled in his second coming So if the hundred and nine prophecies fulfilled in his first coming Were literal That would mean that the 224 left Would be literal you'd think that wouldn't you? but the majority of Evangelicals do not see it as literal they see it as allegorical or symbolic Replacement theology has swept the evangelical church Teaching that the church has replaced Israel and all the promises given to Israel are now symbolically and Allegorically fulfilled in the church The question is can that be true? I Would say Absolutely not and I think the Bible proves that If Jesus doesn't come back His credibility is at stake If he made one mistake, you can't trust him in any area If he's a liar You can't trust him So if Jesus said he's going to come He must come again Let me illustrate it for you this way turn with me in your Bible to Luke chapter 1 Just because we've been there for so many years Luke chapter 1 You know the angel Gabriel, right? Came to Mary in Nazareth spoke to Mary It says in verse 31 Behold you will conceive in your womb
Let me ask you a question did Mary Literally conceive in her room Yes She did good You've got a hundred percent so far and You will bear a son Did Mary? Bear a son Yes Good You're two for two And you shall name him Jesus Was the son that Mary bore Named Jesus answer Yes So there was a literal conception There was a literal birth and there was a literal naming of a son named Jesus He will be great and Will be called the son of the Most High All of that is true He was great
He was called the son of the Most High and The Lord will give him the throne of his father David well, that's Symbolic, that's not literal Is that true? No Why would we go from that which is literal to that which is figurative or symbolic and Then it says and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever and his kingdom will have no end If the first part of the verse was literal, why isn't the second part of the verse? literal and Yet the majority of theologians today Do not believe in a literal return of Jesus Christ to the earth
Let me give you an illustration There is a teaching today That has permeated the church It's called preterism It's from a Latin word, which means simply past Meaning that everything about the future as We would see it recorded in Matthew 24 and 25 the Olivet Discourse Mark chapter 13 Luke chapter 21 the book of Revelation Were all fulfilled in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple on the temple mount in other words the coming of Jesus Has passed It's already here
It's already been here Preterists believe that the promise of our Lord's second coming Was fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD One of the leading proponents of preterism is R.C Sproul In his book the last days according to Jesus he says that I quote Jesus returned in the first century He returned spiritually Through the acts of the Roman army who destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in AD 70 in quote Now the question comes did Jesus return in 80 70 Did he come back to judge the world in 80 70? Well, the answer that is absolutely not But mr
Sproul teaches that that is The case it is the most popular view in Evangelicalism Today, they have three proof texts to prove that Jesus came in 70 AD and Symbolically, he has set up a throne in your heart and in mine It's not a literal throne, it's a Symbolic throne
It's a figurative throne where he sets it up in your life in my life and the kingdom is in you That's what they believe it's based on three verses the first one is Matthew 10 23 which says this But whenever they persecute you in this city flee to the next For truly I say to you you shall not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes The argument is that the Son of Man had to come before the disciples finish going into all the cities of Israel That's the argument the proof text is Matthew 10 23 but there is no evidence whatsoever that the disciples experienced the kind of persecution that The Lord was talking about before his own crucifixion or even after There is no evidence in the context of this passage That the focus is on the destruction of Jerusalem and yet R.C
Sproul in his book or his He's a general editor of the Geneva Bible says this about this verse He says that I quote the coming in this verse is the second coming of Christ to judge the earth In other words, he says this is a fulfillment of what took place in 70 AD and this was Jesus Christ coming to judge the earth the problem is the coming of Jesus the Son of Man is a prophecy fulfilled in Daniel 7 verses 13 and 14 Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man quite frequently during his ministry on this earth To show that he was the fulfillment of the Son of Man in Daniel 7 13 and 14 that would come and set up his kingdom on this earth The second verse they use to prove their argument is Matthew chapter 17 we know this because we studied it in Luke chapter 9 Jesus said in verse 27 of Matthew 16 For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his father and his angels and will then Recompense every man according to his deeds truly I say to you there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom This is what they call a time text It proves without question that the second coming of the Son of Man had to occur before those Listening to him on this occasion would die Now that's a problem The preterists believe that the kingdom of our Lord came with the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD They believe that the thousand-year reign of the Lord as described in Revelation 20 is simply Allegorical and refers to the triumph of the gospel in this present age But the problem with that is is that we know what took place in Matthew chapter 17 That a few days after Jesus said those statements there will some of you Who are standing right here right now? Who will not die until you see the Son of Man in his kingdom in all of his glory and we know that Jesus Christ Took Peter James and John up on the Mount what we call Transfiguration unzipped his flesh there stood Moses there stood Elijah because the kingdom of God Which we've talked about the kingdom is going to include the Old Testament Saints as well as the New Testament Saints the great lawgiver Okay Moses and the great protector of the law Elijah were there and Jesus Christ unzipped his flesh that they might understand the greatness of his glory and Peter would testify to that over in first Peter I'm sorry second Peter chapter 1 verse number 16 when he said this for we did not follow cleverly devised tales Who we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ? But we were eyewitnesses of his majesty for when he received honor and glory from God the Father Such an utterance as this was made to him by the majestic glory This is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with him on the Holy Mountain Peter Testifies as to what exactly took place in Matthew 17 Which was the fulfillment of what Jesus said in Matthew chapter 16 It's not very difficult to interpret that I believe that some theologians are educated beyond their intelligence They don't really understand Exactly what has taken place in the plain sense of the text But their main verse they used to prove that there is no 1,000 year literal reign of Christ upon the earth that he's reigning now Symbolically in your heart that he is the king of your heart Okay, and the presentation of the gospel throughout this age is all there is to the kingdom age This is it
This is the kingdom age This is the king on the throne of your life This is what you get
This is the promised kingdom age because there is no future for Israel The church now has replaced Israel and all the promises given to Israel that were literal promises once are now spiritual promises fulfilled in the church or Symbolic promises fulfilled in the church of Jesus Christ The main text they use is Matthew 24 verse number 34 Matthew chapter 24 verse number 34 And here it says this Truly I say to you this generation Will not pass away Until all these things take place They say that the events of Matthew 24 Which parallel? Revelation 6 through 19 Okay, which by the way is all symbolic it's not literal Was all fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD based on this verse That this generation Will not pass away until all these things take place
That is the generation that Jesus himself was speaking to How do you answer that? Well go back with me if you would to the first part of Matthew 24 or if that go back to Matthew 23 verse number 37 It says this Oh Jerusalem Jerusalem Who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her how often I would have to gather your children together The way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings and you were unwilling Behold your house is being left to you desolate Notice that it's your house
It's no longer his father's house Back in John 2 it was his father's house Well Ichabod had been written across the temple the glory of the Lord had departed This is no longer his father's house It's their house Because they had so desecrated the temple He says your house has been left to you desolate In other words, it's been abandoned To ruin And then he says verse 39 for I say to you from now on you shall not see me Until you say blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord? Listen carefully It doesn't say unless you say blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
It says until you say Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord meaning that the restoration of Israel is Not a possibility It is a certainty That's important to understand So you come to chapter 24? And it says then Jesus came out from the temple and was going away When his disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to him Now those of you who have been with me to Israel we understand where this location is Because when you go to Israel, you can actually walk on the steps that Jesus himself would have ascended and descended When he went in and out of the temple area as they would begin to descend on these steps Mark 13 says these words This tells us what the disciples said And as he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him teacher Behold, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings in other words
Look at these stones Look at this building He already said that your house has been left to you Desolate it's been abandoned to ruin And the disciples are thinking how could that possibly be? Now if you've seen those stones in Israel some of those stones are the size of a boxcar they're absolutely humongous and When this temple was built and the walls surrounding this temple were built
It was such a mammoth site They couldn't even begin to to fathom that they would be left to ruin abandoned to be destroyed They couldn't forget even fathom that so on the way down the temple steps They want to point to Jesus look at this beautiful structure Look at these buildings Look at these stones They're magnificent
They're amazing Which would prompt Jesus to say these words in verse number 2 of Matthew 24 Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you not one stone here shall be left upon another which will not be torn down He prophesied about the destruction of Jerusalem that would happen in 70 AD But he would prophesy about it You go to Israel today and you can see the stones That are piled up that the Jews don't don't move don't clean up Because it is a testimony in their minds To what young Yeshua said as a prophet because they see Jesus as a prophet That he prophesied about the destruction of Jerusalem
We know that he's more than a prophet He is the prophet of Deuteronomy He is the Son of God
We understand that because we know that Jesus is the Messiah but there is all these stones one upon another having been torn down as a demonstration to prove the fulfillment of the prophecy of Jesus Christ our Lord and Then you have verse number three and as he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, so he's already left the temple area For those of you who have been there, you understand you you leave the temple area you come down cross over the Kidron Valley So you go down to the valley cross back up the valley and you're on the Mount of Olives Okay, so it's it's not a very far distance at all And so they ascend up the Mount of Olives and in Matthew 24 and 25 We have what is commonly called the Olivet Discourse the question is asked and As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives Disciples came in privately saying tell us when will these things be? And what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age? Now folks that's very important to understand They ask a question Jesus gives an answer
This is the longest answer He gives to any question ever asked him in Scripture Matthew 24 Matthew 25 It's an important question They ask One or what will be the sign of your coming your parousia? That means the fullness of your messianic revelation That word is used in James 5 8 2nd Peter chapter 3 verse number 4 1st John 2 28 to speak of the fullness of his messianic revelation and Jesus would use it Three more times in Matthew 24
He would use it in verse number 27 When it says for just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west So shall the coming of the Son of Man be same word used first 37 for the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah verse number 39 and they did not Understand until the flood came and took them all away So shall the coming of the Son of Man be This will be the fullness of his messianic revelation
That's what parousia means They wanted to know when the fullness of his revelation would be and the end of the age The end of the age the soon till yas To Ionis the end of man's age a phrase used five times in Matthew once here Twice in Matthew chapter 13, I'm sorry three times in Matthew 13 in once in Matthew 28 verse number 20 In other words, they want to know When is the end of man's age? When is the end of the age of man and When is the fullness of your revelation so Jesus goes to tell them the end of man's age and the fullness of his revelation and Then he says back to Matthew 24 34 these words truly I say to you this generation will not pass away until all these things take place What generation is that the generation that sees? The coming of The end of the age of man and the full revelation of Jesus Christ our Lord That's a generation that will not pass away It's that generation that sees the events of Matthew 24 verses 4 and following It's that generation
It's not the generation of Peter James and John and those guys It's the generation of those who see the fullness of the revelation of the Messiah and The end of the age as man knows it It's that generation So now you understand those three texts that the Preterist used to prove that there is no 1,000 year reign of Christ There is no rapture of the church There is no Messiah that sits literally on the throne of David
He sits on the throne of your heart and Everything that was promised to Israel now was fulfilled in the church. I Suggest to you that all of that is heresy It's wrong. I don't care how many PhDs or THC's you got behind your name, and I don't care how many books you've written That is wrong dead wrong and You need to understand that Hank Anagraph on the radio is an all-millenniast
There is no literal 1,000 year reign of Christ The judgment of Christ came The King came in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem and now he rules and reigns in the hearts of man He's wrong. I don't care if he calls himself the answer man or not He doesn't have the answer on that one I'm gonna show you why because the person of God demands a literal and physical return of Christ to this earth God the Father said it God the Son said it and God the Holy Spirit said That is so important to understand
In fact, let me let me say to you this way the Bible said That Jesus would be born of a virgin Isaiah 714 Was he he was literally born of a virgin The Bible says that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem Was he of course he was The Bible says in Hosea 11 1 he be called out of Egypt was he yes We know that the the angel appeared to him in a dream told him to go down to Egypt to flee where they were Before they came back to Nazareth sometime later because of Herod who wanted to destroy the children We know according to Isaiah 11 2 that the Messiah would be anointed with the Spirit of God
Was he? Yeah, we know about the baptism of Christ We know how the Spirit of God descended upon him We've studied that in Luke chapter 3 The Bible says that Jesus would enter Jerusalem on the backside of a donkey Zechariah 9 9 did he sure he did all literal prophecies all physically and literally fulfilled The Bible says in Psalm 41 verse number 9 He'd be he'd be betrayed by a friend
Was he he was He'd be forsaken by his disciples Zechariah 13 7 was he he was He would be sold for 30 pieces of silver Zechariah 11 12 was he he was Net 30 pieces of silver would be used to buy a potter's field and it was He would be spit upon and scourged he would be crucified his bones would not be broken Gall and vinegar would be offered him hands and feet pierced his garments parted and lots cast and he'd be resurrected And all that was prophesied and all that was literal So, why would the rest of it be spiritual Symbolic you see if Jesus came the first time and literally fulfilled 109 of the 333 prophecies Concerning his arrival then why is it the 224 left to be fulfilled would not literally and physically be fulfilled in the arrival? Of the king to this earth
See that's the question you got to ask That would make Jesus His father and the spirit Inconsistent when it came to prophecy and Jesus is anything But inconsistent So you have all these verses and my time is fleeting but just let me give you a few of them Just as 49 verse number 10 The scepter should not depart from Judah nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh comes Shiloh is just simply means the one to whom it belongs Okay question comes did did Jesus the one to whom it belongs hold the scepter in his hand We was here
No, he didn't They would not have that King rule over them It says in Genesis 49 10 unto him shall the gathering of the people be Well were the people gathered to Jesus the Messiah when he came no, in fact, he came to his own his own We see do not they rejected him We read in Matthew 23 verse 37
We says Oh Jerusalem Jerusalem Oh, I wanted to gather you together as a mother hen gathers your chicks, but you would not But Genesis 49 10 says that Israel will be gathered together Psalm 2 the great Messianic Psalm says In verse 6, but as for me, I had just stalled my king upon Zion my holy mountain I will surely tell her the decree of the Lord He said to me thou art my son today I've begotten thee ask of me and I will surely give the nation's design Inheritance in the very ends of the earth as I possession thou shall break them with a rod of iron thou shalt shatter them Like earthenware, is that happened yet? No, it hasn't happened
Is it going to happen literally or Figuratively, it's gonna be happen literally Isaiah 9 6 and 7 for unto you Son is given Unto you a child will be born Did it happen? Yeah, it did and The government shall be upon his shoulders Did that happen? No, it did not Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end upon the throne of David Did he stood on the throne of David? No, was there peace in Jerusalem? No What are the Jews always pray for? Peace in Jerusalem He didn't come to bring peace Matthew 10 says he came to bring a sword he came to divide families Say wait a minute
What about Luke chapter 2 peace to all men with whom he is well pleased That's right That's what the angel said But peace comes to those with whom he has found favor the ones he bestows grace upon and They experience the peace of God but even amidst that peace that they have there is a division in the family of those who do Not want to receive Christ And so he came to divide families He didn't come to bring peace He came to bring a sword
He said in Matthew chapter 10 but Isaiah 9 says That there'd be no end to his peace He stood on the throne of David No But Matthew 25 says when the Son of Man shall come in his glory and all the holy angels with him then shall he sit Upon the throne of his glory then he will do that So he must literally come again Jeremiah 23 5 and 6 behold the days Come sayeth the Lord
Well, I will raise unto David a righteous branch and a king shall reign and prosper Did Jesus reign and prosper during his earthly ministry the first time? No, listen to this Verse 5 says and the Messiah shall execute justice and righteousness isn't carefully in the Earth Do you do that? No How how do these preterists how did these replacement the Theologians get around the fact that he will execute righteousness and justice in the earth They say well, he does it through those Believers who have him sit on the throne of their life That's not what it says. I Mean the Bible's either means what it says or it doesn't right? I choose to believe exactly what it says There are verses like Isaiah chapter 33 verse over 20 Isaiah 35 verses 1 and 2 Ezekiel 21 verses 25 to 27 Daniel 7 13 to 14 Zechariah 14 49 He will come and all those holy ones with him. I Mean, why is it when he returns he comes back and on his robe are the words he is faithful and he is true It's because it's God's humor on man He says I told you I was coming and you didn't believe me That's why he's got faithful and true written down the side of his robe Because I told you I was coming you didn't believe me So to prove it, I want everybody to see I am faithful and I am true. I am true to my word I am faithful to all that. I've said I do not lie. I'm here exactly as I told you I was coming You read about that in Revelation chapter 19 so important the Tidings of God the Father the teachings of God the Son and the testimony of God the Spirit Prove that the person of God Demands he return again Jesus referred to his return 21 times
We know that in Luke 9 parallel passage Matthew 16 was the first time that Jesus we referred to his coming again that he will return in glory That's the first time he mentioned that but in John 14 He says let not your heart be troubled you believe in God believe also in me in my father's house are many dwelling places If it were not so I would have told you And if I go away, I will come again, and I will receive you unto myself Jesus says I'm gonna come again. I'm gonna receive you unto myself
That was his word to comfort the troubled heart and Disciples were troubled because the Messiah was gonna die the very next day and this is how Jesus comforted their hearts I'm gonna come again, and I'm gonna receive you unto myself You see the teachings of Jesus you can read about it in Matthew 24 and Matthew 25 the Olivet Discourse all about the return of the king the longest answer he gave to any question given to him Because you had to get the answer you need to know the answer So he spends the whole time there on the Mount of Olives Explained to his men about how he's going to return again in the parables of Luke 19 verses 11 and 27 of the two servants in Matthew 24 45 to 41 of The ten virgins in Matthew 25 1 to 13 of the talents in Matthew 25 14 to 30 all those parables speak of the return of the king so the teachings of God the Son the tidings of God the Father and the testimony of God the Spirit all Demand the return of the king So when did a spirit say it he said it said it through all the all the prop all the Apostles excuse me All the Apostles he told the Apostles what to say the words are God breathed words, right? So he breathed into existence the words that he was going to have Said so that everybody would know through the pen of the Apostles whether it was Paul whether it was James Whether it was Peter whether it was John whether it was the right of Hebrews
It was all about the return of the king and They look forward to his return Because they knew that it's going to come back Jesus is going to come just like he said literally and physically to this earth Don't let anybody tell you otherwise Let's pray Father thank you for tonight a chance to study your word a chance to examine the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ Our king may we live in anticipation of the return of Jesus Christ our Lord We pray in your name Amen
