Ministers of Truth Youth Ministry
Why We Exist
Youth Group Mission Statement:
We exist to equip and assist parents in what God has commanded them to do in raising their children in the truth of God’s word (Ephesians 6:1-4 & Deuteronomy 6:4-7).
Our goal as youth staff members is to teach the students about the Gospel and the basics of salvation and to see them come to salvation (John 20:31 & 1 John 5:13). After this, it is the desire of the youth staff to assist the parents in their child’s spiritual growth as we teach, exhort, encourage, correct, and train the students to practice the truth (Proverbs 22:20-21 & Titus 2:2-12). In teaching them, we will show them how to live their lives for the Lord (Philippians 1:21), all while setting an example, showing them how a Christian should live (Matthew 5:16; Titus 2:1-8). After knowing what they believe, and why they believe what they believe (Acts 17:11), we will give them the motivation, skills, and confidence to share their faith effectively and articulately in a winsome manner with their friends, family, and unbelievers (2 Timothy 4:2; Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Corinthians 9:22).
Key terms that are emphasized and continually used:
Gospel: The Holy God and Creator of the universe offering forgiveness of sins to a depraved humanity through the person and work of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Discipleship: Being actively involved in sharing the Gospel with others, seeing them come to Christ, and continually teaching them to observe the doctrines of Scripture and see to it that they grow in Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).
Evangelism: To know the Gospel, why you believe the Gospel, and be able to communicate and articulate the Gospel in an effective and winsome manner (2 Corinthians 10:4-5; Colossians 4:5-6).
Apologetics: The combat and action of defending your faith (1 Peter 3:15).
